HISTORY

Located in Prince Edward County on the north shore of Lake Ontario the County was one of the earliest settled in Upper Canada and fast became headquarters for the commercial fishery on the lake.

In the 50's thru 70's there was a thriving carp fishery, and the fish broker would call and say I need 5 to 6000 lb of carp ASAP. That day two fisherman would walk the beach and take count of how thick the carp were( fish were easy to see in shallow water) if the numbers were good they would make a "PULL" with 200ft seine net and often only one pull was enough to meet  the order of 5000 lb (dressed weight) and the broker was delivered the carp next day!

The broker was always amazed that this one fisherman could always deliver the quota asked for so quickly and that commercial fisherman is still at it today although they don't fish carp anymore, and it is he that has put me onto this location and one of his fellow fisherman now has come into the sport fishery and will work with you during your visit, baiting up, preparing maize, fetching you food and beverage, checking on you each day and even cooking up a steak BBQ each week!
